apple a day

I really didn't wanted to write about this in my blogs as I want to keep away the technology/gadget part of my life away from my 'personal space'. But then I realized that my affection (which some people term as craze) for 'Apple' is far bigger and wider than it being placed in the technology/gadget fervor I have. It is very personal to me and seeing what all is being floating around for the past few days, I thought that why not pour in some of my words to it. I would start by warning (rather disclaiming) that this post might sound a little biased to some people (specially those who know me and have dedicated their lives to hating the wonder it is - Apple) but I am going to to be as sincere and rational as I can.

So I woke up at around 5 AM on June 24th and within the next hour I was standing in a queue outside the apple store to get the latest iPhone 4 that was going to be released at 7AM. This might sound a little crazy to some people but then again I dont want to get into the conversation of justifying the fervor. This is a very typical behavior expected from any fanboy. I did the same for the last two Potter books, standing outside the store at 12 at night to get the released copy. What you feel standing in such queues is another topic for blog which I will write soon perhaps. I am not going to enumerate the pros and cons of the device and what-it-has vs what-it-lacks (nothing!! :D). There are posts about it flooding the internet. What I am noticing about the release is that I see a lot of people jibber-ing about certain issues the device has and they are referring to certain response given by Steve Jobs. A good percentage of my facebook updates are from people who are just pointing out the flaws-in-the-plan.

Yes, apple is overrated to some extant. But then face it, which tech-giant isn't? Google?? Lets not get there!! Yes there might be some issues with the device( which FYI I havent seen yet). Yes there marketing and product placement is not really very pocket friendly. And the quintessential of all, yes there are "better" platforms/technologies available outside the apple regime. But then the 600,000 pre-orders, mile long queues etc etc also point out certain faith in the product. Almost all of the people,I know, who have been complaining about the iPhone 4 are software techies. There rationale is very rational and sound. But then it doesnt mean the product is stupid. I do the exact same about Microsoft yet I know , despite its limitations, it serves its purpose pretty well. And again people are entitled to keep and express their opinion via the social net. What triggered me to write this blog is the constant jeering over the device. How the USA supporters feel when they see the Ghana supporters constantly making fun of the match USA lost in FIFA 2010 is something I can relate to. Lets face it - it doesnt stop anything. The echoing social media will fade off and people will find something else to jibe upon very soon.

So whats the purpose of this blog. There are no debates, no comparisons, no conclusions!! This write up is just put my personal stand. Apple rocks. iPhone 4 is amazing. It indeed has changed a lot of things AGAIN!! :D If you ask my engineer-self to justify, maybe I wont be able to.Call it anything - blinded by the superficiality or gimmicks of marketing or following-the-herd mentality etc etc. I love apple products 'cause they work great!! For what its worth, if it takes so, I am ready to go down with this beautiful, amazing and aesthetically designed ship by apple.
